Study abroad

I have just applied to study abroad and i'm dealing with the uncertainty of not knowing where I will spend my next semester of college. This year I was quite lucky as only 38 people applied to the study aboard program at Marshall. The only downside to this is that more than 50% of the people applied to the same three schools. It just happens so that I am one of those 38 applicants that applied to those three universities as my only choices. It seems like Milan, Barcelona, and Madrid dominated everyone’s top choices this year making it extremely competitive.

As part of the application process every individual has to hold an interview with the director of the program, Sean O’ Connell. My interview started off bad, as I arrived 10 minutes late because I could not find an Uber Downton, but after showing up late my interview ended up going very smooth. We ended up talking 15 minutes over the 20-minute time limit and got to discuss many things about the potential schools I applied to. This was a relief as I felt I was able to talk about myself and give him a good idea about the person I am and how I will represent USC abroad. Nonetheless, I am still very anxious about where I will end up, sometime next week we will be sent our offers and hopefully I will end up in my top choice.

  1. Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine. Being able to explore a country for a few months is the only way you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in the culture and learn new things. I hope you get your top choice school!

  2. I wish I could have studied abroad. Just know, it will work out the way it is meant to. Even though I did not have the chance to go abroad, there are so many other amazing opportunities to study elsewhere at USC. In fact, though I did not get to do a semester abroad, I will be studying design in Japan in May!

  3. I've always wanted to study abroad. I think its a really cool way to expand on your college experience. Unfortunately, football season is in the fall and baseball in the spring and I don't want to miss either of those sports. I hope you get to study in one of your three choices!

  4. Study abroad was the BEST experience; I spent last semester in Melbourne, Australia. I honestly loved every minute of it, and I was able to visit New Zealand, Malaysia and Indonesia as well. I'm so happy to hear that you're studying abroad. If you end up studying abroad in (or even visiting) Australia, I have a ton of guides I can send you with recommendations of restaurants and sites to see.

  7. Study abroad has always been a dream of mine but I unfortunately can not because of my major. I feel like it is the best way to really see and visit a country. All your top 3 cities are amazing and you will for sure have the best time in any of them.
