Martin Center for Injustice

Martin Center for Injustice Could you imagine sitting in a back of a cop car or a jail cell for something you did not do? Or having a family member being mistreated by law enforcement for their skin color? This is the sad reality of many of the poorest and misjudged minorities of the United States, we have had one too many Michael Browns and Eric Garners. At the Martin Center for Legal Justice, we will sort through the hundreds of cases where racism, unethical practice, and prejudice were used as a means of unlawful arrest or actions. We will give each of our client’s top legal defense attorneys that will help relieve them of the injustice they have experienced and make sure their voices will be heard loudly. Many of the victims that fall to police mistreatment and brutality do not have the means of defending themselves, we will ensure we give them the voice and tools to be able to gain the freedom and justice they deserve. No one should be every mistreated for their skin color ...

World

I always make a valiant effort to make a positive impression on the world around me, whether that is through being kind, giving, or simply being polite. My dream is to one day be able to give back to others the things which I have been able to experience and have. I truly believe that each individual is unique and harnesses the ability to have a good heart, it makes me sad to see that not everyone in this world has the same opportunities. On general terms, I aspire to level the playing fields for individuals who experience the harshest inequalities in the world. Each individual if given the correct environment and opportunities has the capability of creating a successful future for themselves. It breaks my heart to see the unfair treatment that people across the globe experience, I wish to one day be able to help prosper a world where each individual, regardless of ethnicity or skin color, is valued and appreciated. Specifically, one global event that arises stron...

With summer coming and finally graduating I am excited for what the future holds for me. I have very ambitious travel plans this summer and would like to travel to at least 5 countries in Europe this summer. In July, I am planning on going to Wimbledon with my twin brother and my dad and spending the week in London. Hopefully Federer is able to somehow make it into the final as it has always been my dream to see him play there, especially in the final. I am also very excited to try the strawberries and crème as it has been something that I have always wanted to have. I am happy to come back home for a little bit and hangout with my dog Oliver. He has a golden retriever that is turning three in September. He is the definition of a good dog and likes to spend his time swimming at the beach or trying to play with me or my family. I look forward to going to my brother’s new beach house and hanging out with Oliver and running and swimming along the beach. I look ...

Born on Third Base Post

In the book, Born on Third Base , Chuck Collins makes the unusual decision of donating most of his wealth to make the case of tackling inequality. The book presents an anomaly of someone who realized their privileged place in society and decided that the money can be used in a more meaningful way that has a more beneficial impact. At a very young age Collins saw the disparity of some low-income individuals and saw the opportunity that his money could make in the lives of struggling households, this led to him finding “his own way” by donating most of his fortune of the Oscar Mayer empire.             America today experiences a serious problem with income inequality, the top 20 richest Americans own more wealth than the bottom 50%. This huge disparity in income places a significant strain on lower classes as they end up dealing with higher levels of poverty and also a higher tax burden as many ultra-rich ...

Study abroad I have just applied to study abroad and i'm dealing with the uncertainty of not knowing where I will spend my next semester of college. This year I was quite lucky as only 38 people applied to the study aboard program at Marshall. The only downside to this is that more than 50% of the people applied to the same three schools. It just happens so that I am one of those 38 applicants that applied to those three universities as my only choices. It seems like Milan, Barcelona, and Madrid dominated everyone’s top choices this year making it extremely competitive. As part of the application process every individual has to hold an interview with the director of the program, Sean O’ Connell. My interview started off bad, as I arrived 10 minutes late because I could not find an Uber Downton, but after showing up late my interview ended up going very smooth. We ended up talking 15 minutes over the 20-minute time limit and got to discuss many things a...

The Dreadfulness of Air Travel

The Dreadfulness of Air Travel From Bruises to Broken Noses                                                                             Long delays, awful customer service, and tight seats are just a few things that travelers have to deal with when travelling across America today. It is no surprise that airlines find themselves in the media’s poor view as they continuously provide customer service stories worthy of national attention because of their absurdness and downright disrespect to passengers. What’s going on? Airlines in the United States have been on a steady path of decline in terms of passenger satisfaction compared to the once known superb service they provided. Following the deregulation in late 70s, passengers have seen a huge shift in airlines attempting to take advan...
